Thank you for using FreshStop (“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy explains what data the FreshStop mobile app and web app process, why, and how you can control it.
Quick summary
We do not require accounts and we do not run a backend that stores your personal data.
Your saved “Home” lives only on your device (browser localStorage / app storage).
With your permission, we use your device location while the app is in use to find nearby stops, routes, weather and air quality.
The app shows an ad banner via Google AdMob. AdMob may use the device’s Advertising ID and approximate location for ads, depending on your settings/consent.
We do not collect names, emails, or addresses in the app.
Advertising
FreshStop displays a banner ad using Google AdMob. AdMob may process:
Advertising ID (Android) and device information for ad delivery/measurement.
Location signals (e.g., coarse/approximate) if available, to improve ad relevance.
You can control ad personalization in your device settings (e.g., “Ads” / “Privacy” → Opt out of Ads Personalization) and, where required, via a consent prompt. For details, see Google’s policies:
To provide results, the app makes direct requests from your device to the services below. They receive coordinates you request results for (e.g., your current location or Home):
OpenStreetMap Overpass API — nearby bus stops. Multiple community-operated endpoints may be used. About Overpass
Project OSRM — walking time matrices (table API). project-osrm.org
Google Maps — we use deep links/URLs to open directions; your use of Google Maps is governed by Google’s terms and privacy policies.
These providers operate their own infrastructure and policies. We do not control their systems or retain data on your behalf.
Legal bases (EEA/UK)
Consent — for location access and, where required, for ad personalization (via device settings or consent messages).
Legitimate interests — to operate and secure the app, prevent abuse, and measure basic usage (e.g., aggregated diagnostics from the platform/SDKs).
Children’s privacy
FreshStop is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention
On-device data (e.g., Home): kept until you clear app storage or remove it in the app.
Third-party services: requests are transient; retention is governed by each provider’s policy.
Your choices & rights
Disable location access at any time in system settings; the app will still open but some features won’t work.
Clear on-device data by clearing app storage (Android) or browser storage (Web).
Control ad personalization in device settings and consent prompts where shown.
EEA/UK users may have rights to access, delete, or restrict processing. Contact us and we’ll help facilitate where applicable.
Security
We use platform security features and HTTPS for network calls. No method is 100% secure, but we strive to protect your data in transit and at rest on your device.
International transfers
Because third-party APIs are globally distributed, your requests may be processed on servers outside your country (including outside the UK/EEA). We select widely used providers and standard APIs.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the “Last updated” date and, where material, provide notice in the app or on this page.
